Service Description

Introducing our Summer pottery camp for teens ages 13-17! This camp is structured similarly to our kids camps, but teens are able to dive a little deeper into various sculpting techniques. Join us for three days of hands-on pottery adventures, where artists will explore what it's like to work with clay. During each three-hour session, students will explore basic hand-building techniques in our bright, supportive studio environment. Students will plan out their projects via sketches, then they'll learn to create with pinch pots, coils, slabs, and various attachment methods. Our projects will vary, but may include: sculpted animals, functional pieces, or decorative pieces. We will be using underglaze for their pieces during camp sessions, so there will be no need to come back to glaze pieces this year! Each student will bring home three finished, fired pieces that showcase their growth. While our experienced instructors guide each step of the process, we encourage students to experiment and express their unique vision. There's no pressure to make things "perfect" – we celebrate each student's individual artistic journey and give them the freedom to explore their imagination. Class sizes are small (8 kids per session), so instructors are able to provide a good amount of one-on-one instruction throughout the morning. On the last day of class, students will have some set time to give the pottery wheel a try! Please note that anything created on the wheel will be recycled, as these pieces will not be fired to take home. Want to explore the wheel a little more? While this camp mainly focuses on hand-building techniques, families & teens interested in wheel throwing can join our Family Wheel class, offered Sunday afternoons.
