Date Night FAQs
Should we choose a pottery wheel class or a hand-building workshop?
The wheel class is the classic, hands-in-the-clay experience: a bit more physical and challenging, but all part of the fun! Hand-building is a gentler entry point where you're creating a piece at our table- there are always rotating & seasonal workshops to choose from. Either one works great as a first pottery experience.
Do we need any experience?
Nope! Most of our date night students have never touched clay before. Your instructor will guide you through every step, multiple times, then give you an opportunity to give it a spin on your own (help is always available).
Does this have to be a romantic date?
Not at all. "Date Night" is really just quality one-on-one time with someone you like! We regularly host best friends, siblings, parents and their adult kids, and long-distance friends catching up. Come with whoever you'd actually want to spend two uninterrupted hours with.
Is this a good first-date idea, or better for established couples?
Both, honestly. It's a great icebreaker for a first or early date since you're doing something together instead of just talking across a table. It's just as good for long-term couples looking to break out of the dinner-and-a-movie rut!
Can we bring drinks or snacks?
es! Feel free to bring your own, or grab something from one of our neighboring downtown Vancouver restaurants and coffee shops before or after class.
What if one of us isn't "artsy"?
Totally fine! This isn't a skills test, simply a chance to try something new in a fun & supportive environment. Plenty of class participants come in insisting they're "not creative" and leave surprised by what they made.
How long until we get our pieces back?
Typically 3-4 weeks, once your pieces have gone through trimming, glazing, and firing (we take care of all of that for you!). We'll email you when they're ready for pickup.

Why Pottery?
Most date nights follow the same script: dinner, maybe a movie, conversation you've probably had before. While there's nothing wrong with that, psychologists who study relationships have found that trying something new together, especially something a little challenging or outside your comfort zone, tends to do more for a couple's connection than the routine stuff. Novelty keeps things interesting; shared effort builds closeness.
Pottery's a great vehicle for that: it's genuinely hard to center clay the first time, you'll probably laugh, you'll probably get it wrong a few times, and you'll be doing it next to someone whose opinion actually matters to you. That small, low-stakes vulnerability (being a little clumsy together) is exactly what makes it fun instead of stressful. It's also a real break from screens and routine- 2 hours where you're both fully present with each other, hands busy, phones down.
