Simple Sculpting

Bring the whole family for this creative hand-building class! 2nd and 4th Sundays from 2:30-4pm.

  • 50 US dollars
  • West 6th Street

Service Description

Perfect for families and kids (ages 3+), but open to all, this class gives you the freedom to create something at the hand-building table with high-quality air dry clay. Instructors are available to help answer questions, offer tips, and teach basic techniques. We have made pokemon figurines, gnomes with hats, trinket trays, animals, spoon rests, ornaments, planters, wall decorations and more. Come with some ideas or we can get creative together! You will be able to take your piece home as soon as class is over- no waiting for your piece to be fired! Once it has dried completely, it's time to get creative again and paint your piece in the comfort of your home. Unlike traditional glazing in the studio, you have complete creative control over how you'd like to paint your piece. We recommend acrylic paints, which are available at any craft store or at the studio for an additional $5. If you'd like to seal your piece and give it a shiny & strong finish, you can find a spray shellac at any home improvement store. The price for this class is $50 per person. Kids 8 and up can be dropped off for class, but need to be picked up as soon as class is over. Kids under age 8 will need a parent or guardian to book a spot as well to assist while needed- you'll also be able to sculpt your own creation alongside them! 50% of the proceeds of this class are donated to raise awareness of CLN2. (If your kids want to try the wheel you can sign them up for Family Wheel on Sundays at noon. They will have more dedicated attention with smaller class sizes during that class, and their work will be fired in the kiln. Min age 8.)
