Service Description

This is an eight-week course for mixed level participants to advance their skills in hand-building and on the wheel. This class is designed for complete beginners but we also have an agenda for intermediate participants to go at their own pace! You will be able to take home several pieces of your very own handmade pottery by the end of the series. In this course you will learn different techniques and approaches to throwing on the wheel and hand-building; including centering, pulling, trimming, coil building, slab building, surface decoration, and glazing. There will also be a special project mid-way through the course that the group will decide upon. The price includes eight days of instruction (one day per week) and one additional day of open studio time per week where you can practice outside of class. One 25lb bag of clay is included. Cancellation Policy: A refund will be issued if requested 7 days or more before the class begins. If you miss a session you will be allowed an extra open studio day. Our on staff instructors are always around to help. Only work done in the studio can be fired in the studio. We encourage you to come in for the extra day of open studio time to work on your pieces. We don't allow clay to be taken out of the studio. Only studio glazes are allowed to be used on pieces. If proper technique is not followed when glazing and there is damage to the kiln furniture, the cost of the shelf replacement or staff hours to fix it will be billed to you. Please sign the studio handbook on the membership page of our website before your first class. https://www.kilnfolkclay.com/membership-policies What to wear: Comfortable clothes that you can squat in and don't mind getting dirty. (no skirts/dresses) What to bring: Bring a rag and an apron to class with you! Disclaimer: We may have to cancel the class up to 24 hours before the class starts if there are fewer than 4 participants. No guarantee is offered, explicit or implied, regarding the quality or serviceability of fired work. Every precaution will be taken to ensure the best possible outcome for every firing. Use of the studio indicates you agree that you will not hold the studio, it’s volunteers, or any other person associated with the studio responsible for work that is damaged or defective in any way while in the studio at any stage of the process.

Cancellation Policy

For a full refund, you must cancel your booking within 7 days of your scheduled class/activity. We may offer rescheduling for a fee in certain circumstances.
