Service Description

This is an six-week course for mixed level participants to advance their skills in hand-building and on the wheel. This class is designed for complete beginners but we also have an agenda for intermediate participants to go at their own pace! You will be able to take home several pieces of your very own handmade pottery by the end of the series.* In this course you will learn different techniques and approaches to throwing on the wheel and hand-building; including centering, pulling, trimming, coil building, surface decoration, and glazing. The price includes six days of instruction (one day per week) and one additional day of open studio time per week where you can practice outside of class (up to three hours/day). Cancellation Policy: A refund will be issued if requested 4 days or more before the class begins and subject to a 3% processing fee. If you miss a session you will be allowed an extra open studio day. You can ask your instructor what was covered and practice with your extra studio time. Only work done in the studio can be fired in the studio. We don't allow clay to be taken out of the studio. Only studio glazes are allowed to be used on pieces. If proper technique is not followed when glazing and there is damage to the kiln furniture, the cost of the shelf replacement or staff hours to fix it will be billed to you. Please sign the studio handbook on the membership page of our website before your first class. https://www.kilnfolkclay.com/membership-policies What to wear: Comfortable clothes that you can squat in and don't mind getting dirty and short nails. What to bring: Bring a rag and an apron to class with you! *Space for up to eight 6" pieces is allotted for firing. Disclaimer: No guarantee is offered, explicit or implied, regarding the quality or serviceability of fired work. Every precaution will be taken to ensure the best possible outcome for every firing. Use of the studio indicates you agree that you will not hold the studio, it’s volunteers, or any other person associated with the studio responsible for work that is damaged or defective in any way while in the studio at any stage of the process. While working with clay is relatively safe, there are hazards and risks. These risks include the possibility of injuries or illness related to the use of the studio, materials, or equipment. Use of the studio indicates you agree that you have been informed of the risks and have signed the Kilnfolk waiver.
